Bio

Dr. Philip Dugas begins his first full year with Trinity Baptist College. He will be helping ensure our student-athletes at TBC are successful in the classroom and also serve a professor in the Business/Sport Management department. He comes to TBC with over 17 years of experience in education, athletics, coaching, and scouting. He began his coaching and athletic management learning from Chip Baker and Mike Martin at Florida State University as an intern in baseball operations. He spent one year as the head baseball coach at Robert F. Munroe Day School in Quincy, FL before moving to Naples, FL and coaching and teaching at Golden Gate High School for seven years. 

Dugas grew up in Easley, SC and was a three-year letter winner in baseball, helping bring Easley High School its first regional championship in 20 years as senior. He then attended North Greenville University, where he was a three-year member of the baseball team. He led the team in triples as a freshman and garnered academic honors in each of his three years. While at NGU, he was a founding member of the Sport Management Society and active in the baseball ministry each summer. After graduating with Honors from NGU, Dugas spent spring training in the Golden Baseball League, an independent league based in California. 

Dugas completed his master’s degree in Physical Education from Florida State University and second master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, and his doctorate, with highest honors, from the United States Sports Academy in Sport Administration.  During his time at FSU he was part of the operations of the baseball program working with budgeting, travel, logistics, and camps. He also worked with Next Level Baseball, a professional scouting organization, as a scout for the Milwaukee Brewers. 

Philip and his wife of 15 years, Terri, have a daughter, Peyton (13), and a son, Parker (10), who are actively involved in volleyball, baseball, basketball, and church youth group. His wife is a teacher with Florida Virtual School. In his spare time, you can find Philip in the gym or at the fields watching his kids. He also enjoys weightlifting, cycling, traveling, the Atlanta Braves, and the Florida State Seminoles!
