Men’s Basketball: Seven Seniors Score in Eagles’ Senior Day Win

Seven seniors scored points with three in double figures, and three more Eagles contributed points in the Senior Day win when TBC Eagles Men's Basketball defeated the Tigers from Trinity College of Florida on Saturday afternoon. The win is the fifth in TBC's last seven games and the second over the Tigers this season.

Senior Xavier Rose led the team with 17 points, and he assisted 12 other scores. Rose was 8 for 9 from the field, including a fast-break slam dunk. He scored 10 in the first and 7 in the second and finished three rebounds shy of a triple-double.

Seniors Jacquez Anderson (11), Ian Kanady (10), and Ja'Maryus Pringle (10) also scored in double figures. Anderson sank 3 three-point shots, and Kanady was 5 for 11 from the field. One of Kanady's baskets was on an alley-oop dunk that started with Jace Spinelli's steal on the defensive side, a pass to Rose, and a feed to Kanady right at the rim.

Pringle scored a season high; coupled with 11 rebounds, he amassed a double-double. Pringle hit all five of his shots from the field and had 7 offensive rebounds and 4 defensive. DJ Thompson was 4 for 7 from the field and added a foul shot to finish with 9 points.

Spinelli, also a senior, used 2 field goals and 2 free throws to total 6 points, and Ahmir Hardy scored 2 at the end of his Senior Day game. Hardy also scored 7 points in the TBC Developmental game against TRC Academy earlier in the day. TBC won 79-76.

Seniors Jaylen Hardy and Jariel Santana also saw action. While neither scored against Trinity College, they both played vital roles in the developmental team's win. Hardy scored 20 points with 8 field goals and 4 free throws while Santana worked the ball to open teammates to help set up many scoring plays in 18 minutes of work.

The Eagles fell behind Trinity College 13-5 early on but went on a 15-6 run to go ahead 20-19 on Pringle's dunk with 11:22 left in the first half. They built that lead to 47-34 at the break and never relinquished it. The two teams put up the same point totals in the second half.

Among the underclassmen, Diego Fernandez scored 13 points, which included 4 three-pointers, and Brandon Hill totaled 9 with 7 rebounds in just 10 minutes played. Brycen Rowland added a pair of three-pointers late in the game.

As a team, the Eagles shot 51% overall, hit 9 three-pointers, and converted 5 free throws.

TBC has one home game recently added to the schedule. The Eagles will host NJCAA Florida Gateway College at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17. First, a trip to Bob Jones University for a South Region match-up on February 13 is in order, followed by a stop at Paine College on February 15.
