Ethan Bray's layup put the Eagles ahead for good with 6:09 left to play, and the Eagles fended off several last-minute efforts by the Timberwolves.
Bray's layup made the scored 61-60, and he sank a free throw to complete the three-point play. Brandon Hill added a layup moments later to extend the margin to four, and the Eagles eventually led 68-63 with 3:37 left after Digeo Fernandez hit two free throws.

Xavier Rose scored the next four points to put his team ahead by nine, but the Timberwolves did not quit. A three-pointer by Amon Moore and a pair of made foul shots by Esreal Yant cut it to 4. Trinity, though, got clutch free-throw shooting from DJ Thompson and Fernandez, who combined for 5 of 7 from the line to help put the game away despite Moore and O'Marion Brown sinking shots to keep the game within three points until 9 seconds were left.
Hill scored a season-high 20 points (9 for 16 from the field), and Ian Kanady scored 17 (7 for 14, 2 threes) to lead the Eagles. Fernandez (16) and Rose (12) also hit double figures. Bray finished with 7, and Thompson had 6. Four more Eagles contributed defensively to help keep Florida Gateway from making or even taking shots.
The Eagles protected the ball, limiting the turnovers to single digits. They blocked 2 shots and stole 10 possessions (Fernandez 4). They shot 44% from the field, including 53% in the second half.
Trinity jumped out to an 11-2 lead five minutes in, but FGC outscored the Eagles 29-18 from there, taking their first lead at 24-22 with 5:11 left in the half. Trinity tied it twice afterward but could not regain the advantage, and Getway led 31-29 at halftime. Fernandez's three right out of the locker room was the first of 10 lead changes that accompanied 7 ties in the second half alone.
Brown tied Hill with 20 points to lead the Timberwolves, who also got significant point contributions from 9 total players with Moore scoring 11 and Tariq Pitts totaling 9.
The Eagles will close the regular season with a trip to both Southeastern Baptist College and Pensacola Christian College on Friday and Saturday, respectively, for South Region competition that will determine seeding in next week's tournament. That tournament begins on Thursday, February 27, at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
