Men’s Soccer: Eagles Get South Region Win over Toccoa Falls
A non-existent game turned into a South Region victory with four players scoring five goals for TBC Eagles Men's Soccer in their 5-1 win over Toccoa Falls College in a game added to the schedule only two days prior. The win comes in TBC's first South Region contest of the season.
Calvin Vicuna started the scoring with his first goal of the season in Minute 30. He lofted a shot from the top of the Box of 18 over the Toccoa keeper and into the net to give TBC it's only goal of the first half. The defense made that lead stand for the remainder of the half and until Trinity scored again shortly into the second.
Just 10:02 into the second half, Jason Campbell knocked in his fourth of the season after receiving a pass from Ashton Karney (assist) inside the box and tapped the ball gently into the nylon. Campbell would score again six minutes later when Christopher Dickey's corner kick went to Vicuna (assist), who tapped a pass to Campbell, who shot the ball inside the right post.
In Minute 66, Gabriel Guzman took advantage of a free direct kick following a foul and connected from the semicircle into the top right corner. The final tally then came from Casey Cuprit less than two minutes later. Cuprit hit from just inside the box (Karney assist), and the ball deflected off the goalkeeper before landing inside the goal.
Toccoa's Joshua Lang scored in Minute 85, but that was the only shot of his team's 12 that got past TBC goalkeeper Mason Lambert. The defense held Toccoa to seven shots on goal, and Lambert saved six of them with four on the dive. Lang took two total shots for Toccoa Falls, and Nick Nunez took three to help lead their team.
These two teams will meet again at Toccoa Falls for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 28. First, though, TBC will host NJCAA Andrew College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25. The final three games include South Region affairs at Bob Jones University on October 5 and home versus Pensacola Christian College on October 26 with a home game against NAIA Florida College sandwiched in between on October 19.
