Men’s Soccer: Eagles Come Back Twice To Tie Florida College
Both goals tied the score, and each came just moments after the opposition took the lead as TBC Eagles Men's Soccer battled the Florida College Falcons to a 2-2 draw on Homecoming Saturday. The Eagles made the most of their opportunities as they held their third NAIA opponent in check this season.
Jason Campbell tied the score in Minute 48 less than one minute after the Falcons took a 1-0 lead just after the second half began. Campbell grabbed a loose ball to the left of the penalty box, dribbled around a Falcon defender, and shot the ball into the right side of the net to tie the score at 1-1 with his 7th goal of the season.
The score remained tied until Minute 61 when Florida College's Nicholas Geising connected on a penalty kick to put the Falcons back in front at 2-1.
That lead, however, was also short-lived thanks to Dawson Gregg (assist) finding Ashton Karney with a tap pass from outside the semicircle that Karney dribbled past a defender before shooting from the right of center to the left side of the goal for his 6th of the season.
The Falcons took several more shots from that point on, but TBC goalkeeper Mason Lambert continued his NCCAA D-2 triple Top 10 performance with 7 saves, the majority of which were on the dive. As of today's final, Lambert is 4th in saves, 7th in fewest goals allowed, and 8th in save percentage.
Florida College outshot TBC 24-6, but those two Eagle goals were clutch. Campbell and Karney shot twice each, and Gabriel Guzman took 2 shots with 1 on goal for the Eagles.
Each team had one last chance in extra time, but Lambert and FC's Filip Borka each saved shots on goal in the last few moments. Borka finished with 3 saves. Yorgen Torres scored the Falcons' first goal in Minute 47 before Campbell got the equalizer.
The Eagles will visit NJCAA Andrew College at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21. The game will take place at Thomas University due to Andrew's displacement from the recent hurricanes. Trinity will then finish the regular season at home versus South Region rival Pensacola Christian College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26.
