For a second consecutive time, a big second half led to a win after the Eagles broke a halftime tie. Three men scored four goals in the second half, and TCJ Eagles Men's Soccer defeated the Tigers of Andrew College 5-1.
With the scored tied at 1-1, six minutes into the second half, Leandro Concepcion connected with a spin move inside the penalty box to give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish. Jasson Soriano assisted the goal with the pass to Concepcion.
In Minute 55, Aaron Uribe came up from the backfield, intercepted an Andrew pass at midfield, dribbled through three defenders, passed outside to Soriano, and took the pass back from Soriano (assist) inside the goal box and notched his first goal of the season.
Trinity added two more goals near the end; both came from Daniel Moreno in Minutes 81 and 85 to put the game out of reach.
Noah Amesbury started the scoring in Minute 8 when he grabbed a rebound from Moreno's shot off the goalkeeper and hit the top right corner of the net. Amesbury has scored in each of TCJ's first three contests.
The score remained 1-0 until the Tigers got the equalizer from Brooks White from just in front of the net with under 7 minutes left in the half.
The Eagles took 25 shots with 13 of them on goal. Moreno led the team with 7 shots and 5 on goal. Nine teammates all had between 1 and 3 shots.
TCJ goalkeeper Christian David faced only 2 shots on goal and saved 1. The defense held Andrew to only 6 total shots. Colby Callahan worked the final 8 minutes in goal.
The Eagles will play their first South Region game of the season against Carolina Christian College at 4:00 p.m. on Labor Day, September 1. NAIA Webber International University comes to Talon Field on September 8 before the Eagles play seven consecutive games on the road between September 12 and October 8. That stretch includes three South Region games and a visit to Andrew College.
