Christy Kerry Jean Francois scored two goals in the second-half to cut the deficit down to 1, and the Eagles had chances to even the score. However, a last-second goal missed just past the left post, and the comeback effort fell one goal short as TCJ Men's Soccer battled a very tough Warriors team from NAIA Webber International University.
After trailing 3-0, the Eagles began their comeback effort. In Minute 55, Francois took a long pass from Joao Pedro Cury Mendonca from the middle of the field to the left side of the box. Francois dribbled through two defenders and shot the ball between the goalkeeper and the left post to put Trinity on the board.
Five minutes later, Francois found a loose ball up the left side of the pitch. He drew the Webber goalkeeper out of the box after getting past the entire defense. Francois dribbled around the keeper, evaded a trip, and connected in the center of the open net. At that point, Trinity cut deficit down to one at 3-2.
The Eagles kept up the pressure and had some chances to tie the score, but Webber's defense, led by Tyler Keating and Emanuel Barajas, would not allow many shot attempts. Goalkeeper Alvaro Garcia got half of his 4 saves during the last several minutes. With 10 seconds left, Richard Bernardo de Lima missed just inches to the left of the post.
Three separate Warriors scored for Webber: Keating and Gregor Graham in the first half and Hussein Elbadry in the second.
Trinity goalkeeper Christian David saved eight.
The Eagles will play their next seven games on the road beginning at South Region rival Toccoa Falls College on Friday, September 12. NJCAA Andrew College and NCAA Division 1 University of North Florida follow on September 15 and 23. September's games will conclude with visits to NJCAA Central Georgia Technical College on the 26th and the South Region's Bob Jones University on the 30th.
