Women’s Basketball: Brown Sets Career High to Lead All Scorers at D-2 Savannah State

Ranajala Brown's 22 points led all players in Thursday night's contest as TBC Women's Basketball played its second exhibition game against an NCAA Division 1 or Division 2 opponent. TBC visited D-2 Savannah State University and started strong, but SSU pulled away in the second half.

Brown scored 5, 6, 2, and 9 points successively in each of the four quarters to put up the game's highest total. She sank five two-point shots, 3 three-pointers, and 3 free throws.

Brown's 22 points is a new career high for the sophomore, who surpassed her previous high of 21 last season vs. Bob Jones University.

Brown, Caroline Smith, Jaedin Houston, and Alessandra Henriquez combined for 44% shooting with 6 three-pointers and a 5-for-8 performance from the line. Justice Ewig was 3 for 3 at the line in addition.

Smith hit double digits herself with 10 points by sinking 5 of 8 shots from the field. Henriquez scored 7 (including a three-pointer), Houston hit a pair of threes for 6 total points, and Ewig finished with 3.

The Eagles will visit NAIA New College of Florida at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday as the first game of a women's/men's double-header between the two schools. The women will then play their final exhibition game of the season at D-1 Bethune-Cookman University on November 19 before returning home to face Florida State College at Jacksonville in November's final game on the 21st.
