Women’s Soccer: Eagles Shutout Carolina Christian in South Region Win

Ellie Mikeska scored the first and the last goals, and two teammates sandwiched goals in between as TBC Eagles Women's Soccer notched a South Region win over newcomer Carolina Christian College. The Eagles scored early and took a season-high 39 shots with 24 of them on goal on route to a 4-0 shutout win.

Mikeska received a long pass from Hana Lohmann (assist) well in the backfield, and Lohmann's pass reached Mikeska close to the box of 18. Mikeska fired the ball into the net in Minute 9 to put the Eagles on the board with her first goal of the season.

Mikeska also scored the game's final goal in Minute 79, an unassisted blast.

Overall, Mikeska took 10 shots with 7 on goal and 2 successful.

Carolina Christian goalkeeper Gaby Echevarria, however, was brilliant in the net. Echevarria saved 20 of 24 shots on goal faced with more than half of those saves on the dive.

Lohmann scored in Minute 18 on a rebound off a Mikeska shot on goal that Echevarria knocked down on the dive. Lohmann was right there inside the box to slap the ball into the net for her second goal of the season. She had 6 total shots with 3 on goal. The Eagles took that 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

Gabriella Clark extended the lead to 3-0 in Minute 47 with an unassisted goal of her own, her first of the season. At that point, the Eagles appeared well on their way to the win. Clark totaled 5 shots with 4 on goal.

Also taking aim were Tatum Wolke (7, 4), Lucy Rothfuss (5, 3), Abigail Mendoza, (4, 1), and Laine Ford (2, 2).

Goalkeeper Brandalynn Sims saved all 3 shots on goal faced, and her defense of Rothfuss, Alyssa Lechuga, and Aubree Settle held CCC to only 4 total shots.

The Eagles will play at 11:00 a.m. on Homecoming Saturday when they kickoff with NCAA Division 3 Agnes Scott College; the men will play NAIA Florida College at 1:30 p.m. Women's Soccer then has one home game with NCAA D-2 Allen University on October 23 and one at Bob Jones University on October 28 to close out the regular season.
