Women's Soccer: Defense from Both Teams Leads to Scoreless Tie vs. Pasco-Hernando

Both teams played spectacular defense, which led to a scoreless tie as TCJ Eagles Women's Soccer battled the Bobcats of Pasco-Hernando State College Friday afternoon on the home field in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Trinity goalkeeper Katianna Grace saved all 6 shots on goal she faced, and she got plenty of help from her defense to prevent more.

Alyssa Lechuga and Aubree Settle led the defensive force and both often pinned potential attackers to the sidelines to make things difficult for the Bobcats.

Lucy Rife fired off 5 shots for the Eagles with 3 on goal. Sophia Lannuzzi-Morales took 2 shots (1 on goal), and Camila Lopez took 1.

Equally effective on defense were Pasco-Hernando's Triniti Clayton and Marianna Portillo, who held TCJ to only 7 total shots. The duo led a defensive stand by putting bodies between Trinity attackers and the ball, intercepting passes, and clearing away potential shot attempts. PHSC goalkeeper Angelina Waller saved all 5 shots on goal.

Analisse Vizza led Pasco with 7 total shots and 3 on goal, and Klarissa Zawaosky took 4 shots. Pasco-Hernando took 18 total shots.

The Eagles will alternate away/home for their next four contests beginning with a road trip to Macon, Georgia, to face NCAA Division 3 Wesleyan College at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2. The next three are home against Brewton-Parker College on September 6, at Polk State College on September 13, and home vs. Warner University on September 16.

Trinity visits Pasco-Hernando on Friday, September 19.
